Who we are

Meanwhile is an independent project based in Switzerland. If you have any question about this policy, write to us at hello@getmeanwhile.today.

What the app sees

On Android, with your permission (“Usage access”), Meanwhile sees which app is in the foreground and for how long — but only to time sessions in the apps you selected. It never sees what you do inside those apps: no messages, posts, content, passwords or keystrokes.

Where your data lives

Your session history (which app, when it started, how long it lasted) and your settings are stored only on your device. There is no account, and we don’t upload, sell or share your data.

Deleting the app — or tapping “Clear sessions” in Settings — deletes your data for good.

Permissions and why

  • Usage access — to detect which app is open.
  • Display over other apps — to show the floating timer.
  • Notifications — to send limit nudges.

Each of these can be turned off in your system settings at any time.
